Andrea and Kunal married on February 29, 2020, a leap day, and spent the hours before their ceremony between two very different backdrops. They saw each other for the first time that day in a quiet upper-floor lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand piano and the city below. Then they headed west to the Garfield Park Conservatory for portraits.
The conservatory gave them a little of everything. They stood at the edge of the lagoon in the Fern Room, walked the paths under the palms and glass roof, and finished among the tall cacti of the Desert House. Andrea wore a fitted lace gown with an open illusion-lace back and a long scalloped lace train, and carried lavender roses, white blooms and eucalyptus. Kunal wore a black tuxedo with a white rose boutonniere. Their bridesmaids wore plum gowns and the groomsmen wore light gray suits.
The ceremony and reception were held in a white loft with glass-block windows, exposed ductwork and crystal chandeliers. Andrea and Kunal said their vows in front of a boxwood wall hung with gold hoops and sprays of white orchids, with clear acrylic pedestals of floating candles and blush roses at their feet. Clear chairs lined an aisle marked with candles and loose greenery, and the officiant laughed along with everyone else as they kissed.
For dinner, the tables were dressed in lavender-gray satin with silver chairs and garlands of greenery under the chandeliers. A lounge corner had a navy tufted velvet sofa and brass lanterns on floating shelves, and the bar sat under a pair of crystal globe pendants.
